About us

At Parent and Child Assessments, we carry out parenting assessments in foster placements. Our parenting learning and assessments are carried out during short-term intervention in placements.

Local authorities refer parents and their babies for varying types of intervention, and our trained parent and child foster carers, with the support of their supervising social workers, carry out these assessments.

Our aim

Our primary aim is to safeguard and promote the welfare of families, vulnerable children and young people whilst working with parents and supporting them to work through the issues identified that impede safe and responsible parenting.

Our foster placements provide safe, transitional and enabling family environments for vulnerable families and their children through modelling; reinforcements and reflective conversations aimed at improving parenting abilities and outcomes following assessments in placements.

We aim to help parents modify the behaviours that put their babies at risk so that the safety and wellbeing of their babies is promoted.

Assessments

Our assessments are evidenced and outcome based using the following:

Raise self-awareness, self-esteem and self-confidence of parents

Setting achievable goal with parents

Advocate for parents in the community

Promote health, education, employment and training towards their independent living in the community

Closely monitor parenting abilities whilst checking and recording rate of responses and commitment

Inculcate a range of parenting skills, learning and values that encourage safe and responsible parenting in the community.

Our fostering standards

Our mission

We are harnessing the strength of families, carers, communities and organisations to unconditionally support and encourage children and young people to achieve their full potential.

Our values

Aspirational: by helping others to grow, we grow ourselves.

Passionate: we are determined to keep improving what we do. We will ambitiously pursue the best outcomes for everyone we work with.

Become a foster carer

Fair and equitable: we will be open and transparent, communicating what we do and why we did it, based on equality and respect for all.

Engaged: we want to listen well and respond quickly to the people we work with - children and young people, their birth families, carers, our staff and supporters.

Beyond profit: we will make every decision based on what is best for children and young people. We will deliver excellent services as efficiently as possible in order to continually invest in the people we work with.
